Federici Designs

Federici Designs consists of Karen and Rich Federici, with Rich doing furnace glass blowing and Karen doing lampworking. Federici Designs started in 1995 after a trip to Ashville NC. We were inspired to start our own studio. We had been blowing glass at Wheaton Village from 1990. At Wheaton Village we were fortunate enough to be able to observe and assist some of the greatest glass artists in the world. Some of the artists who performed at the Village were: Lino Tagliapietra, Dale Chilhuly, Stephen Rolf Powell, Dante Marioni, and our own Paul Stankard, just to mention a few. After our trip we came home and ordered an electric furnace for our out-building. That little 50 pound furnace served us well until 1999 and we had definitely ran out of room, so we had our Architect, Larry Merighi (who is on the board of Directors at the Creative Glass Center of America) design our new state of art studio. Larry was familiar with glass blowing and previously designed Paul Stankard's Studio. In 2000 we moved into our spacious 1600 square foot studio, which boasts a hot shop, flame studio, cold working area, shipping room, showroom, all important bathroom, and large attic warehouse. We are now able to make large work and we are much more comfortable making our small work.
