Renowned modernist glass designer, Stefan Lenke was born in Germany, where he continues to live and to create--to worldwide and enthusiastic acclaim. In some instances, the work of Stefan Lenke subtlely evokes the classic, impeccable design sensibilities of the Bauhaus period. Yet, Lenke always manages to interject fluid curves and rich, sherbert-like colors--while maintaining his equally trademark, clean lines and distinctive forms.

Having studied art history and psychology as a student at the Free University of Berlin, Lenke began his career as a self-employed designer of jewelry and light installations, utilizing art glass as his medium. In 1992, Stefan Lenke opened his own studio/workspace in Hamburg, leading to his current success--encompassing exhibitions and gallery showings from New York to Tokyo.

Lenke focuses on creating bowls, vases, platters, candlesticks and other, ultra-modern design accessories, in glass as well as in metal--the results of which range from the elegant to the whimsical--invariably to stunning effect.
