Oscar Zanetti was born in Murano, Venice in 1961. His family is well known and for many generations have lived on the island. Among the most outstanding family members is Abott Zanetti, founder of the Museo del Vetro (museum of glass).

Oscar began working at a young age, only fourteen years old, while still attending the Instituto D'Arte in Venice. He worked through the various training levels, starting out as an assistant "serventino" and ultimately achieving the status as Maestro in 1989.

His maestry was perfected working with the most prestigious studios in Murano "Venini, La Murrina, Barovier & Toso". At the age of 25, his father, Licio, a Maestro in his own right, wanted Oscar to join the family furnace to further enhance his technique and to stengthen his artistic inclination. In 1993, his lifelong aspirations became realized when he received his own furnace where he could express his own creative ideas.

For a while, he collaborated arduously with galleries and artists producing truly outstanding fine artwork.

Overall, various contemporary artists have come to recognize and value his ability, finding him to be a gifted artisan not only with great technical skill but also with emotion that is necessary in translating the spirit of his work in an expressively shapeable world, encompassing light and colors through glass.

Oscar participates in many international shows, organized in Paris, London, Monaco, etc. Recently, he took part in one of the most famous Venetian expositions, the "Venezia Vetro Aperto" in the New Emerging Glass Artists section.
